Hey there! Wow this is going to be among the last of my blogs, which is so crazy. I’ve been praying about what my final blogs should be like and what I should write next and this story was far to important not to share. So here’s the story of a girl at my care-point (care-points are where we go daily and feed/play with the kids.)

This is the story of a twelve year old girl, Morgan. (For her privacy I’m using a fake name for her.) Her parents seperated when she was a baby. Morgan and her mom lived in South Africa and her dad lived in Eswatini. At the age of five, her mom abandoned her. So with no where else to go and no family around, she ended up becoming a slave. Her owners would make her do all sorts of hard chores, starve her, and would beat her. Even the young daughter of the owner would hit her. Around the age of seven, her dad found out Morgan’s mom left and that she had become a slave. He went through a long process but was able to bring Morgan to Eswatini. He immediately gave her new clothes and fed her. He showed her all the love he was unable to provide the previous years. Something she hasnt had since she was a baby. Her mom also jumped back into the picture. Their relationship grew, even to the point Morgan told her mom all the pain she was forced to go through because of her mom’s choices. Her mom was desperate to fix their bond and did all she could, including sending money to support her. Soon after her world was becoming stable and healthy her dad died, then soon after her mom too. She was sent to the only person who could take care of her, her grandma. At the age of twelve she doesnt have much and walks a long ways just to get to school and the care point. She also refers to her early years of life as her childhood.

Morgan told me she wanted me to tell everyone in America her story because she wants people to not take anything for granted. The Lord blessed her by allowing her bond with her parents to be mended before they passed. She also wanted others to know that they need to love their parents, if they still have them. Even with all her mom put her through, she has nothing but love in her heart for the woman.

Her story is a powerful one filled with pain and heartbreak, but redemption and strength radiate for her. She’s not the only one with a story like this. Many other kids, some even younger, have stories just as heartbreaking. However they rely on all that the Lord offers them.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. I’m beyond grateful for everyone that continues to read and comment on my blogs. You are amazing!

Until next time,

  1. Oh how I wish you could bring them all home with you!! I love you and your huge heart!

  2. Oh my heart. This is so heartbreaking and so redemptive at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to share her story, Kaili.

  3. Oh my heart??. But she is so right we all take so much for granted and have no idea the pain and suffering others are going through. So thankful she was able to see her parents before they passed?? A lot to learn from a small child.

  4. Wow such a sad story that she had to go through this. But so happy because of the things that she learned from it. We do take so many things for granted. I am fortunate to have had a good childhood and with good parents. We never had a lot but we had parents that loved us and took good care of us. It’s so sad there are so many stories just like Morgan’s. Hopefully they all have the opportunity to hear about Jesus and can have a better life. Thank you for the blog Kaili. It really touches my heart.

  5. Wow!
    What a story.
It’s amazing that things we take for granted.
    Really puts things into perspective.
    Thank you for sharing, Kaili!!
